This project uses the facial detection feature in Processing to control sounds and generate visuals. It features 8 tracks, a repeating beat in the background along with guitars, bells, and some other different instruments. When a face is detected, a red circle marks the location of the face, and a track plays; it can play up to 7 tracks simultaneously. Each of the waves corresponds to the buffer size of the track. The color and composition of the waves were an attempt to recreate “Wheat Field with Cypresses” by Vincent Van Gogh as it gives a similar calming and stroke like texture.
This project aims to give the audience an immersive experience of orchestrating music. It allows the audience see the music, hear the music and most important of all, be the music.
